Description
Double Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are soft, chewy, and filled with rich chocolate flavor. The combination of cocoa powder and melted chocolate gives these cookies a decadent taste, while the powdered sugar coating creates a signature crinkled appearance. Perfect for chocolate lovers!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate until evenly distributed.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
- Once chilled, scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Roll each dough ball in powdered sugar until fully coated.
- Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. The cookies will continue to cook on the baking sheet after being removed from the oven.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For an extra fudgy texture, add 1/2 cup of chopped dark chocolate to the dough in addition to the chocolate chips.
- Make sure to chill the dough for best results to achieve the signature crinkle effect during baking.
- If you prefer a slightly sweeter cookie, you can increase the sugar by 1/4 cup.
- Store the cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. You can also freeze the dough balls for later use and bake directly from the freezer, adding a minute or two to the baking time.
