Description

Double Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are soft, chewy, and filled with rich chocolate flavor. The combination of cocoa powder and melted chocolate gives these cookies a decadent taste, while the powdered sugar coating creates a signature crinkled appearance. Perfect for chocolate lovers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate until evenly distributed.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
  7. Once chilled, scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Roll each dough ball in powdered sugar until fully coated.
  8. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. The cookies will continue to cook on the baking sheet after being removed from the oven.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For an extra fudgy texture, add 1/2 cup of chopped dark chocolate to the dough in addition to the chocolate chips.
  • Make sure to chill the dough for best results to achieve the signature crinkle effect during baking.
  • If you prefer a slightly sweeter cookie, you can increase the sugar by 1/4 cup.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. You can also freeze the dough balls for later use and bake directly from the freezer, adding a minute or two to the baking time.
