Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the ricotta cheese and milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients.
- Divide the batter in half. Mix the melted chocolate into one half of the batter.
- Alternately spoon the chocolate and plain batter into the prepared pan. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the two batters together, creating a marble effect.
- If desired, sprinkle chocolate chips on top for extra texture.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
