- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the Dr. Pepper, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Stir the mixture to combine, and bring it to a simmer over medium heat.
- Once it starts to simmer, reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce will thicken as it cooks.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed—add more sugar for sweetness, or more vinegar for tanginess.
- Once the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
- Use the sauce immediately, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
