Description

This Easter Dirt Cake Casserole is a fun, no-bake dessert that’s perfect for celebrating Easter with family and friends! Layers of creamy vanilla pudding, chocolate cookies, and colorful candy come together to create a delicious “dirt” cake that’s as festive as it is delicious. Top it with Easter-themed treats for the ultimate seasonal treat!

Ingredients

Scale

For the crust:

  • 1 package (14-16 oz) chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreos or similar)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the pudding filling:

  • 1 package (3.4 oz) vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups milk
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 oz whipped topping (like Cool Whip)

For the topping:

  • 1 cup gummy worms (or other candy like Easter jelly beans or chocolate eggs)
  • 12 tablespoons sprinkles (optional, for extra color)
  • Additional crushed chocolate cookies (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust:
    • Place the chocolate sandwich cookies in a food processor and pulse until they become fine crumbs (or place them in a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin).
    • In a medium bowl, combine the crushed cookie crumbs with the melted butter. Stir until the crumbs are evenly coated with the butter.
    • Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch casserole dish or baking dish to form a crust. Place the dish in the refrigerator to set while you prepare the pudding filling (about 15 minutes).
  2. Make the pudding filling:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the vanilla instant pudding mix and milk. Let it sit for 2 minutes to thicken.
    • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and beat until fully combined.
    • Gently fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture until smooth and well combined.
    • Add the pudding mixture to the cream cheese and whipped topping mixture and stir until everything is well incorporated.
  3. Assemble the cake:
    • Once the crust has set, spread the pudding filling evenly over the cookie crust.
    • Smooth the top with a spatula.
  4. Top the cake:
    • Crush a few more chocolate cookies and sprinkle them generously over the top of the pudding filling to create the “dirt.”
    • Arrange gummy worms or other Easter-themed candies on top for decoration. You can also add sprinkles to make it more festive.
  5. Chill the dessert:
    • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the dessert to set and flavors to meld together.
  6. Serve:
    • After chilling, cut into squares or scoop out servings and enjoy your delicious Easter Dirt Cake Casserole!

Notes

  • You can use any kind of chocolate sandwich cookies you prefer for the crust, such as Oreos or generic chocolate cookies.
  • For a more Easter-themed dessert, you can use pastel-colored candies like jelly beans or Easter-themed chocolate eggs.
  • This dessert is very customizable – feel free to add more layers or different candy options to match your tastes or Easter theme.
  • If you prefer, you can make individual dirt cups by layering the dessert in small cups for easier serving at a party.
