These Easter Knot Cookies are soft, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious with a delicate glaze that adds the perfect sweetness. They’re a festive, fun, and easy-to-make treat, perfect for Easter celebrations or any springtime gathering!
Ingredients
For the cookies:
- 300g plain flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 large eggs
- 100g sugar
- 80g unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tsp lemon zest (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
- 60ml milk
For the glaze:
- 150g icing sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice (or milk for a milder flavor)
- Colourful sprinkles (optional for decoration)
Instructions

Make the dough:
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in melted butter, lemon zest, and milk. Gradually add dry ingredients until a soft dough forms. -
Shape the knots:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan). Roll small pieces of dough into 15cm ropes and tie them into loose knots. Place on a lined baking sheet. -
Bake:
Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden. Cool on a wire rack. -
Glaze and decorate:
Mix icing sugar with lemon juice until smooth. Dip cooled cookies in glaze and sprinkle with colourful decorations. -
Serve:
Let glaze set before serving. Perfect with tea or coffee! ☕🍪
Notes
- You can substitute the lemon juice with milk for a milder glaze flavor.
- Add sprinkles to make the cookies extra festive!
- If you prefer vanilla over lemon, use vanilla extract instead of lemon zest.
