Ingredients

  • 500g boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish


Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Pour the sauce into the skillet with the chicken and bring to a simmer.
  5. Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry and add to the skillet.
  6. Cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken, about 3-5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice or vegetables.

  • Use bourbon whiskey for authentic flavor; substitute with apple juice for non-alcoholic version.
