Description

This Easy Christmas Gumdrop Nougat Candy is a festive, colorful treat that combines soft nougat with chewy gumdrops for a deliciously sweet, melt-in-your-mouth candy. Perfect for holiday gifting or enjoying with loved ones, this easy-to-make candy will bring a cheerful touch to your Christmas celebrations!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups gumdrops, chopped into small pieces
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×9-inch square baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Melt the Marshmallows and Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and milk. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Add Vanilla and Powdered Sugar: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Gradually sift in the powdered sugar, stirring until it’s fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth and thick.
  • Add Gumdrops and Nuts: Stir in the chopped gumdrops and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the nougat mixture.
  • Spread in the Pan: Pour the nougat mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Press down lightly to smooth the top.
  • Cool and Set: Allow the nougat to cool at room temperature for at least 2 hours, or until fully set. You can also refrigerate it for faster setting.
  • Cut and Serve: Once set, cut the nougat into small squares or bars. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, you can add 1/2 tsp almond extract instead of vanilla for a nutty twist.
  • You can also customize this candy by adding other mix-ins, like chocolate chips or dried fruits.
  • Store the candy in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
