Description

A delicious cross between a croissant and a muffin, these Cheesy Garlic Cruffins are buttery, flaky, and filled with savory garlic butter and melted cheese. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a delicious side to any meal!

Ingredients

Scale

(Makes 8 Cruffins)

  • For the Garlic Butter:

    • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
  • For the Cruffins:

    • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated croissant dough (or puff pastry dough)
    • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
    • Salt, to taste (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Make the Garlic Butter:

    • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and oregano (if using).
    • Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Dough:

    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a standard muffin tin with butter or cooking spray.
    • Unroll the croissant dough and separate into individual triangles.
    • Brush each triangle with the garlic butter mixture, making sure the entire surface is coated.
  3. Assemble the Cruffins:

    • Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the garlic butter-coated croissant triangles.
    • Starting from the wide end of the triangle, carefully roll up each dough piece tightly like a croissant.
    • Place the rolled-up croissants in the muffin tin, standing up vertically.
  4. Bake the Cruffins:

    • Brush the tops of the cruffins with the remaining melted butter.
    • Sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
    • Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
  5. Serve & Enjoy!

    • Let the cruffins cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm as a savory snack, side, or breakfast!

Notes

  • You can swap mozzarella cheese with any other cheese that melts well, such as cheddar or provolone.
  • For extra garlic flavor, sprinkle a bit of garlic powder over the top of the cruffins before baking.
  • You can make these ahead and store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for the best texture.
