Description

This quick and delicious recipe features halloumi cheese pan-fried to golden perfection, enhanced with garlic and mint. Perfect as an appetizer or a side dish, it’s a great way to enjoy the unique texture and flavor of this Mediterranean cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • 1/4 cup diced garlic (optional)
  • 8 ounces halloumi, sliced into thin long strips
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried mint

Instructions

  • Heat pan: In a nonstick pan, heat oil or butter over medium heat until shimmery.
  • Cook cheese: Add halloumi cheese to the pan and drizzle with lemon juice. Let the cheese brown on one side, then flip.
  • Add garlic: (Optional) Add garlic to the pan.
  • Sprinkle mint: Add dried mint to the pan over the cheese.
  • Continue cooking: Flip the cheese 1-2 more times, lightly spooning garlic and mint over it.
  • Serve: When the cheese is soft and golden brown on both sides (after about 6 minutes), remove from the pan and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the halloumi just before serving.
