For the Biscuits:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • â…“ cup sugar
  • 5 tablespoons butter (cold or frozen)
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ounces blueberries (fresh or dried)

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • â…› cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the cold milk and blueberries to the dry ingredients, stirring to combine.
  • Freeze one stick of butter for about one hour, then remove and break it into chunks.
  • Spread the frozen butter chunks evenly over the biscuit dough, folding and kneading the dough until the butter is incorporated.
  • On a floured surface, roll the dough to about 1/4 to 1/8 inches thick.
  • Use a biscuit cutter to cut out approximately 6 biscuits.
  • Bake the biscuits for 7 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the microwave and brush it on top of the hot biscuits.
  • For the glaze, mix together the powdered sugar, water, vanilla, and lemon juice, then drizzle over the biscuits.
