For the Biscuits:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup cold milk
- β cup sugar
- 5 tablespoons butter (cold or frozen)
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 ounces blueberries (fresh or dried)
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- β cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Β½ teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450Β°F (232Β°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold milk and blueberries to the dry ingredients, stirring to combine.
- Freeze one stick of butter for about one hour, then remove and break it into chunks.
- Spread the frozen butter chunks evenly over the biscuit dough, folding and kneading the dough until the butter is incorporated.
- On a floured surface, roll the dough to about 1/4 to 1/8 inches thick.
- Use a biscuit cutter to cut out approximately 6 biscuits.
- Bake the biscuits for 7 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the microwave and brush it on top of the hot biscuits.
- For the glaze, mix together the powdered sugar, water, vanilla, and lemon juice, then drizzle over the biscuits.
