Description
A quick and satisfying sandwich featuring creamy tuna salad, melted cheese, and toasted bread—perfect for a hearty lunch or casual dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (5 oz) can tuna, drained
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon diced celery (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- 2 slices of cheddar or Swiss cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter (for toasting)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, diced celery (if using), Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Spread the tuna mixture evenly over one slice of bread. Top with cheese slices and then the second slice of bread to form a sandwich.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter and place the sandwich in the skillet.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from skillet, cut in half if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use canned tuna in water or oil depending on your preference.
- Try adding sliced tomatoes or pickles inside the sandwich for extra flavor.
- You can also make it open-faced and broil it in the oven instead of pan-frying.
