Description

A quick and satisfying sandwich featuring creamy tuna salad, melted cheese, and toasted bread—perfect for a hearty lunch or casual dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5 oz) can tuna, drained
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon diced celery (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
  • 2 slices of cheddar or Swiss cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for toasting)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, diced celery (if using), Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  2. Spread the tuna mixture evenly over one slice of bread. Top with cheese slices and then the second slice of bread to form a sandwich.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter and place the sandwich in the skillet.
  4. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  5. Remove from skillet, cut in half if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use canned tuna in water or oil depending on your preference.
  • Try adding sliced tomatoes or pickles inside the sandwich for extra flavor.
  • You can also make it open-faced and broil it in the oven instead of pan-frying.
