  • 28 ounces canned chili
  • 10 ounces Rotel (or canned tomatoes with green chilies)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 32 ounces tater tots

Instructions

  • Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spray a 9×13 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Brown ground beef: In a nonstick pan over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef. Add the canned chili and Rotel, stirring to combine.
  • Add seasonings: Incorporate cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper into the beef mixture.
  • Layer casserole: Pour the ground beef mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top with 1 ½ cups of shredded cheese, then a single layer of frozen tater tots.
  • Bake: Bake for 35 minutes. Remove from the oven, add the remaining ½ cup of cheese, and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  • Serve: Serve warm with desired chili toppings.
