Description
A classic Egg Salad Sandwich is a creamy, satisfying, and simple meal perfect for lunch or a quick snack. Packed with protein-rich eggs, creamy mayo, and tangy mustard, this sandwich is comforting yet refreshing. You can enjoy it on your favorite bread, toasted or fresh, and even add extras like lettuce or pickles for some crunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 slices of bread (whole grain, white, or your choice)
- 1 leaf of lettuce (optional, for added crunch)
- 2–3 slices of tomato (optional, for added freshness)
- Pickles (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Boil the Eggs:
Place the eggs in a pot and cover them with water. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat and let the eggs simmer for 9-10 minutes. Once done, remove the eggs from the water and let them cool before peeling. - Prepare the Egg Salad:
Once the eggs are peeled, chop them into small pieces and place them in a bowl. Add the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until the eggs are evenly coated with the dressing. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. - Assemble the Sandwich:
Spread a layer of the egg salad mixture onto one slice of bread. If you like, add a leaf of lettuce and a few slices of tomato for extra flavor and texture. Top with the second slice of bread. - Serve:
Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately. You can serve it with pickles or a side salad for a complete meal.
Notes
- For a lighter version, you can swap the mayonnaise for Greek yogurt or avocado.
- For added flavor, feel free to sprinkle some paprika or add finely chopped green onions or herbs like parsley or chives to the egg salad.
- You can also toast the bread for a crispy texture, or use a wrap or lettuce leaves to make a low-carb version.
