Description

This Halloween, make dinner fun and spooky with Eyeball Pasta! Featuring vibrant spinach pasta topped with creepy cheese-and-olive eyeballs, this dish is both playful and easy to prepare, making it perfect for family gatherings or Halloween-themed meals.

Ingredients

  • Spinach pasta (any shape)
  • Pasta sauce (your favorite, either jarred or homemade)
  • String cheese (about ½ per person)
  • Black olives (or dark-skinned veggies like zucchini)

Instructions

  • Prepare the “Eyeballs”:
    • Slice the string cheese into ¼-inch thick discs.
    • Slice the black olives in half lengthwise.
    • Use a straw to cut out small circles from the cheese discs.
    • Use the same straw to cut small pieces from the olives, then insert the olive pieces into the cheese circles to create eyeballs.
  • Cook the Pasta:
    • Boil the spinach pasta according to package instructions. For an extra spooky effect, you can add a few drops of green food coloring to the water.
  • Assemble the Dish:
    • Drain the cooked pasta and top it with your favorite pasta sauce.
    • Place the prepared eyeballs on top of the pasta for a spooky presentation.

Notes

  • Cheese Variations: You can substitute string cheese with other types of cheese such as mozzarella or provolone.
  • Olive Alternatives: Dark-skinned vegetables like zucchini or mushrooms can be used if you prefer not to use olives.
  • Food Coloring: Adding green food coloring to the pasta water enhances the Halloween effect but is optional.
