Description
Fire Cider is a powerful health tonic made from a blend of spicy, zesty ingredients that can boost your immune system and add flavor to various dishes. This infused vinegar is easy to make and can be stored for up to a year.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/4 cup ginger root, sliced
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 8 garlic cloves, crushed
- 2 whole star anise pods
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 tablespoons dried turmeric root
- 1 tablespoon dried lemon peel
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- Apple cider vinegar (enough to cover ingredients)
- 1/2 cup raw honey
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: In a clean, large jar (one quart recommended), add all ingredients except for the apple cider vinegar and raw honey.
- Add Vinegar: Pour apple cider vinegar over the ingredients, filling the jar to the top. If using a metal lid, cover the jar with a paper muffin liner or cheesecloth before sealing to prevent any reaction between the vinegar and the metal.
- Infuse: Place the sealed jar in a cool, dark place and let it sit for 4 weeks, allowing the flavors and nutrients to infuse into the vinegar.
- Strain and Sweeten: After four weeks, strain the liquid into a clean jar and stir in the raw honey until fully dissolved.
- Store: Keep the finished Fire Cider in a cool, dark place or refrigerate for up to one year.
- Serve: Enjoy a tablespoon at a time as a health tonic or add it to recipes for a zesty boost!
