Description
A juicy, flavorful homemade burger inspired by Five Guys, featuring fresh ground beef, simple seasoning, and classic toppings for the perfect diner-style burger experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 hamburger buns
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 4 slices American cheese (optional)
- Fresh lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Pickles
- Sliced onions
- Ketchup and mustard
- Mayonnaise (optional)
Instructions
- Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently form into patties slightly larger than the buns, about 3/4-inch thick. Do not overwork the meat.
- Preheat a cast-iron skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
- Season both sides of each patty generously with salt and pepper.
- Cook patties for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness. Add cheese slices on top during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- Toast buns lightly on the grill or skillet.
- Assemble burgers by placing the patty on the bottom bun, then layer with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and your choice of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.
- Top with the bun and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, lightly press the patty edges to create a crispy crust.
- Customize toppings to your preference: jalapeños, bacon, or grilled mushrooms work great.
- Use fresh, high-quality beef for the best taste.
