Scale
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (or dairy-free milk)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder (optional, for a slightly fluffier texture)
- 2 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional, for extra gooeyness)
Instructions
- In a microwave-safe mug (12 oz size or larger), whisk together cocoa powder, sugar, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, salt, and baking powder (if using).
- Stir the batter until smooth and well combined.
- If desired, fold in chocolate chips for extra richness.
- Microwave the mug on high for 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds, or until the brownie has set but is still slightly soft in the center.
- Let the brownie cool for a couple of minutes before serving. You can top with ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup if desired.
Notes
- Cooking time may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage. Start with 1 minute and check, then add more time if needed in 10-second intervals.
- For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free milk and oil, and omit the chocolate chips or use dairy-free chocolate chips.
- You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or a tablespoon of peanut butter for extra flavor.
