Description

  • These Fluffy and Soft Dinner Rolls are buttery, pillowy, and perfect for any occasion—from holiday feasts to everyday dinners. Easy to make and impossible to resist, they’re sure to become a staple on your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for kneading)

  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F or 43°C)

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Mix Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.

  3. Knead: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5–6 minutes.

  4. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

  5. Shape Rolls: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12–15 equal pieces. Shape each into a smooth ball and place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

  6. Second Rise: Cover and let the rolls rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.

  7. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

  8. Brush with Butter: Remove from the oven and immediately brush with melted butter. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: After shaping, rolls can be refrigerated overnight. Let them come to room temp and rise before baking.

  • Freeze: Baked rolls can be frozen in an airtight bag for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven before serving.

  • Add-Ins: For a savory twist, add herbs or garlic powder to the dough.
