Description

These Fried Croissant Beignets are a decadent twist on the classic beignet, using buttery croissant dough for a light, flaky, and crispy treat. They’re deep-fried to perfection and dusted with powdered sugar for a sweet, melt-in-your-mouth experience! Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large croissants (preferably a day or two old)
  • Vegetable oil for frying (about 4 cups or enough to fill the frying pan)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for added depth of flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (optional, for a drizzle if desired)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Croissants:
Slice the croissants into 1-inch thick strips or cubes, depending on your preference for beignet shapes.

  2. Heat the Oil:
In a deep frying pan or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. The oil should be around 350°F (175°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, you can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of dough—if it sizzles immediately, the oil is ready.

  3. Fry the Croissant Pieces:
Carefully add the sliced croissant pieces into the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure the beignets fry evenly.

  4. Drain the Beignets:
Once the croissant pieces are golden and crispy, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

  5. Dust with Powdered Sugar:
While the beignets are still warm, generously dust them with powdered sugar. For an extra touch, you can mix in cinnamon with the powdered sugar for a spiced flavor.

  6. Serve & Enjoy:
Serve the fried croissant beignets immediately. You can drizzle them with a little milk or vanilla glaze for extra sweetness, but they are perfect on their own too.

Notes

  • If you prefer, you can use fresh croissants instead of day-old ones, but older croissants tend to hold up better when frying.
  • You can fill the beignets with chocolate, cream cheese, or jam before frying for a more indulgent treat.
