Description

These Fried Goat Cheese Bites are crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, offering a perfect balance of textures and flavors. Coated in seasoned breadcrumbs and lightly fried to golden perfection, these little bites are the perfect appetizer or party snack. Serve them with a tangy dipping sauce or drizzle with honey for an added flavor boost.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Goat Cheese Bites:

  • 8 oz log of goat cheese (soft)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs (or Panko breadcrumbs)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

Optional Dipping Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp honey (for a sweet touch)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar (for a tangy contrast)

Instructions

Prepare the goat cheese:

  • Slice the goat cheese into 1-inch rounds or log pieces. You should get about 10-12 pieces depending on the size of the log.

2. Dredge the goat cheese:

  • In a shallow bowl, place the flour.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg.
  • In a third bowl, combine the seasoned breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Take each piece of goat cheese and dip it into the flour, coating it completely. Then dip it into the egg, followed by the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure it is well-coated. Repeat with the remaining pieces.

3. Fry the goat cheese bites:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated goat cheese pieces to the skillet.
  • Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan; fry in batches if necessary.
  • Once fried, remove the goat cheese bites from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

4. Make the dipping sauce (optional):

  • In a small bowl, mix together honey and balsamic vinegar for a sweet and tangy sauce. Alternatively, you can serve with marinara sauce or any other preferred dipping sauce.

5. Serve:

  • Serve the fried goat cheese bites warm with your dipping sauce on the side

Notes

  • For a variation, try adding some chopped fresh herbs (like thyme or rosemary) to the breadcrumb mixture for extra flavor.
  • You can also serve these with a simple tomato sauce or a fruit chutney for a different flavor profile.
  • To make ahead, bread the goat cheese and refrigerate them for 30 minutes before frying to help the coating set.
