Description

hese funnel cake bites are a delicious and fun take on the classic fair treat, fried to perfection and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Great for parties, snacks, or dessert!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla
  • 2 cups of flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 6 tablespoons of butter (melted)

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix your milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter together.
  • Add in the salt, baking soda, and sugar.
  • Slowly fold in the flour until the batter becomes smooth.
  • Pour the batter mixture into a gallon-size Ziplock bag and set aside for a few minutes.
  • Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan, making sure the oil is about half an inch deep.
  • Turn the burner on high heat for about two minutes, then reduce to medium heat.
  • Test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into the pan. If it begins to bubble around the edges, it’s ready. If not, increase the heat slightly until it is hot enough.
  • Cut a small hole in the bottom corner of the Ziplock bag and slowly drizzle the batter into 1 to 2 circles in the hot oil.
  • Fry until the bottom half is golden brown, then gently flip them with a slotted metal spatula and cook the other side until golden brown.
  • Place the cooked bites on paper towels to absorb excess grease, then sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  • Serve with whipped cream or fruit as toppings.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is at the right temperature to avoid undercooking or burning the funnel cakes.
  • You can use a squeeze bottle if you don’t have a Ziplock bag to control the batter flow better.
