- 2 cups of milk
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 6 tablespoons of butter, melted
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Powdered sugar (for serving)
- Whipped cream or fruit (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, mix the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter together.
- Add in the salt, baking soda, and sugar, and mix well.
- Slowly fold in the flour until the batter becomes smooth.
- Pour the batter mixture into a gallon-sized Ziplock bag and set aside for a few minutes.
- Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan until it is about half an inch deep.
- Turn the burner on high heat for about two minutes, then turn it down to medium heat.
- Check your oil by dropping a small drop of batter into it. If bubbles form around the edges, it is ready; if not, increase the heat slightly.
- Cut a small hole in the bottom corner of the baggie. Slowly drizzle the batter into 1 to 2 circles and cook until golden brown on the bottom.
- Gently flip the bites over with a slotted metal spatula and cook until the other side is golden brown.
- Place on paper towels to soak up excess grease and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
- Serve warm with whipped cream or fruit as toppings.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding a dash of cinnamon to the batter.
- Be cautious with the oil temperature; too hot can burn the bites, while too cool will make them greasy.
