Enjoy the delightful taste of funnel cake in bite-sized pieces! These Funnel Cake Bites are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect for sharing or indulging as a sweet treat. Easy to make and delicious, they are sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 6 tablespoons of butter, melted
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Whipped cream or fruit (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter together.
  • Add in the salt, baking soda, and sugar, and mix well.
  • Slowly fold in the flour until the batter becomes smooth.
  • Pour the batter mixture into a gallon-sized Ziplock bag and set aside for a few minutes.
  • Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan until it is about half an inch deep.
  • Turn the burner on high heat for about two minutes, then turn it down to medium heat.
  • Check your oil by dropping a small drop of batter into it. If bubbles form around the edges, it is ready; if not, increase the heat slightly.
  • Cut a small hole in the bottom corner of the baggie. Slowly drizzle the batter into 1 to 2 circles and cook until golden brown on the bottom.
  • Gently flip the bites over with a slotted metal spatula and cook until the other side is golden brown.
  • Place on paper towels to soak up excess grease and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  • Serve warm with whipped cream or fruit as toppings.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a dash of cinnamon to the batter.
  • Be cautious with the oil temperature; too hot can burn the bites, while too cool will make them greasy.
