Description

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian bread or French baguette
  • 1/2 lb cooked ground beef or sausage
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the loaf lengthwise without cutting all the way through, creating a hinge.
  3. Hollow out some of the bread inside to make room for filling.
  4. In a skillet, sauté onions, bell peppers, and garlic until softened.
  5. Add cooked ground beef or sausage, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; cook for 3-4 minutes to combine flavors.
  6. Mix in marinara sauce, then remove from heat.
  7. Stuff the bread with the meat mixture, then layer mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Close the bread loaf, wrap in foil, and bake for 20 minutes.
  9. Unwrap and bake an additional 10 minutes for a crispy crust and melted cheese.
  10. Slice and serve warm.
