Description

Garlic Butter Beef Bites with Creamy Mashed Potatoes is a comforting and flavorful dish featuring tender beef cubes sautéed in rich garlic butter, paired with ultra-smooth, fluffy mashed potatoes. Perfect for busy weeknights or a cozy family dinner, this recipe combines savory depth with creamy comfort, delivering a simple yet elegant meal that melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef Bites

  • 1 lb beef tenderloin or sirloin cubes
  • 34 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For the Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 lbs russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk, warmed
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Optional Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Peel and quarter the potatoes. Place them in a pot of salted cold water, bring to a boil, and cook for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender. Drain well and set aside to steam dry, which prevents watery mashed potatoes.
  2. Cook the Beef Bites: While the potatoes cook, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant but not browned. Add the beef cubes, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 3-5 minutes until browned on all sides but still juicy inside.
  3. Mash the Potatoes: Return the drained potatoes to the pot or a bowl and mash until smooth. Add warm cream or milk and butter, mashing continuously until the potatoes become creamy, silky, and fluffy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Combine and Finish: Plate a generous serving of mashed potatoes, spoon the garlic butter beef bites over the top, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of freshness and color.

Notes

  • Use room temperature beef to ensure even searing and juicy results.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan; cook beef in batches if necessary for a perfect sear.
  • Warm the cream or milk before adding to the potatoes to maintain a smooth, creamy texture.
  • Season mashed potatoes gradually to avoid over salting.
  • Allow cooked beef bites to rest briefly to redistribute juices and enhance tenderness.
