Description

These Garlic Butter Honey BBQ Beef Tacos are a mouthwatering fusion of savory and sweet, featuring tender beef cooked in garlic butter and honey BBQ sauce. Topped with fresh veggies and a drizzle of extra sauce, these tacos are a fun and flavorful twist on your regular taco night. Perfect for a family dinner or casual get-together!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or use flank steak, skirt steak, or shredded beef)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (optional for extra flavor)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Tacos:

  • 8 small taco shells (corn or flour, depending on preference)
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Mexican blend)
  • Fresh cilantro leaves (for garnish)
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef:
    • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.
    • Add the ground beef (or your choice of beef) to the skillet, and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until it’s browned and fully cooked (about 7-8 minutes). Drain any excess fat if necessary.
    • Reduce the heat to low. Add the remaining butter, BBQ sauce, honey, and soy sauce (if using) to the beef. Stir well to coat the beef in the sauce. Let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.
  2. Warm the Taco Shells:
    • While the beef is simmering, warm the taco shells in the oven (or microwave) according to package instructions. Alternatively, you can lightly toast the shells on a dry skillet for a few seconds on each side.
  3. Assemble the Tacos:
    • Spoon the garlic butter honey BBQ beef mixture into each taco shell.
    • Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, chopped red onion, and shredded cheese. Add a few fresh cilantro leaves for a burst of freshness.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the tacos immediately, with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.

Notes

  • For extra heat, you can add some sliced jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce to the tacos.
  • You can use chicken or pork as a substitute for beef if you prefer.
  • These tacos are great with a side of Mexican rice, black beans, or a simple avocado salad.
