Description

This Garlic Butter Shrimp and Sausage Skillet Pasta is a one-pan wonder packed with flavor! Juicy shrimp, savory sausage, and tender pasta are tossed in a rich garlic butter sauce, making it the perfect easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or your favorite)
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 links smoked sausage (or your preferred sausage), sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta:
Cook the pasta according to package instructions, then drain and set aside. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. Cook the Sausage:
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Shrimp:
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until they turn pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside with the sausage.
  4. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:
In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Stir in the red pepper flakes, chicken broth, and heavy cream. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. Combine Everything:
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat it in the garlic butter sauce. Stir in the cooked shrimp and sausage, and toss everything together. If the sauce is too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta water to thin it out to your liking.
  6. Finish and Serve:
Stir in lemon juice and season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese (if desired). Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can swap the sausage for chicken or another protein if you prefer.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a splash of white wine to the sauce while simmering.
  • If you like a creamier sauce, increase the amount of heavy cream.
