For the Steak Bites
- 1 lb (450 g) sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Mash
- 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook the Potatoes: Place potatoes in a pot, cover with water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to boil, then simmer for about 15 minutes until tender. Drain and mash with milk and butter, seasoning to taste.
- Cook the Steak Bites: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook steak bites in batches for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Garlic Butter: In the same skillet, lower the heat, add garlic, and cook until fragrant. Stir in butter, thyme, and rosemary.
- Combine: Return steak bites to the skillet, tossing to coat in garlic butter. Heat through, seasoning to taste.
- Serve: Plate steak bites over mashed potatoes, drizzling any remaining garlic butter on top.
