Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish (such as a 9×9-inch dish or individual ramekins) with butter or cooking spray.
- Cook the Shrimp:
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until just pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Garlic Sauce:
- In the same skillet, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.
- Add the white wine (or chicken broth) and simmer for 2 minutes, allowing it to reduce slightly.
- Stir in the heavy cream, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Assemble the Gratin:
- Add the cooked shrimp back into the skillet with the garlic sauce, tossing to coat the shrimp in the sauce.
- Transfer the shrimp and sauce to the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the shrimp.
- Optionally, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the cheese for added crunch and texture.
- Bake the Gratin:
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden. If you added breadcrumbs, they should be crispy and browned.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and drizzle with fresh lemon juice. Garnish with chopped parsley.
- Serve immediately with a side of crusty bread or a simple salad.
Notes
- You can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or milk for a lighter version, but the sauce won’t be as rich and creamy.
- If you prefer a spicier dish, feel free to increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of hot sauce to the sauce.
- For a gluten-free version, skip the breadcrumbs or use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
