Ingredients
Scale
- Fudge Layer:
- 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- Chocolate Layer:
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Coconut Pecan Topping:
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 large egg yolk, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Prepare the Fudge Layer: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is smooth and melted. Pour the fudge mixture into a parchment-lined 8×8-inch pan, spreading it evenly. Place it in the refrigerator to set while preparing the next layer.
- Make the Chocolate Layer: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine milk chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Pour this layer over the set fudge layer in the pan, spreading evenly. Return to the refrigerator to chill.
- Prepare the Coconut Pecan Topping: In a medium saucepan, combine evaporated milk, sugar, butter, and beaten egg yolk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans. Allow the topping to cool for a few minutes.
- Assemble the Fudge: Spread the coconut pecan topping evenly over the set chocolate layer in the pan. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until fully set.
- Serve: Once firm, lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment paper and cut into squares. Enjoy!
Notes
- Ensure the fudge is fully set before cutting for the best texture and consistency.
- You can use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet for a richer flavor.
- Let the topping cool slightly before spreading it over the fudge to prevent it from melting the layers below.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
