Description
This delightful dish features a warm, gooey wheel of Brie cheese topped with sweet caramelized apples and fragrant thyme. Perfect as an appetizer for gatherings, it pairs beautifully with crackers or baguette slices.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 wheel of Brie cheese
- 2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp fresh thyme leaves
- 1 sheet puff pastry (optional, if wrapping the Brie)
- Crackers or baguette slices for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Caramelize apples: In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apple slices and brown sugar, cooking for 5-7 minutes until the apples are soft and caramelized. Stir in the fresh thyme.
- Prepare Brie: If using puff pastry, wrap the Brie wheel in the pastry and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Otherwise, place the Brie wheel directly in a small baking dish.
- Bake Brie: Bake the Brie (wrapped or unwrapped) for 10-15 minutes, or until soft and gooey.
- Serve: Top the warm Brie with the caramelized apples and serve with crackers or baguette slices.
Notes
- For a sweeter touch, consider drizzling honey over the top before serving.
- This dish is best enjoyed warm to savor the melted Brie.
