Description

This delicious Golden Baked Provolone Chicken features tender chicken breasts topped with a crispy Parmesan-breadcrumb mixture and gooey provolone cheese. It’s a quick and easy dish that’s perfect for weeknight dinners and guaranteed to please the whole family!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Make the Cheese Topping: In a small bowl, combine the Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Drizzle olive oil (or melted butter) into the mixture and stir until it becomes slightly crumbly.
  • Coat the Chicken: Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the baking dish. Sprinkle the Parmesan-breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of each chicken breast, pressing it lightly to adhere.
  • Bake the Chicken: Bake the chicken for 20-25 minutes, or until nearly cooked through (internal temperature should be around 160°F/71°C).
  • Add the Provolone Cheese: Remove the chicken from the oven and place a slice of provolone cheese on top of each chicken breast. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the provolone cheese is melted and golden.
  • Garnish and Serve: Once the cheese is melted and golden, remove the chicken from the oven. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken beforehand.
  • You can substitute provolone with mozzarella or gouda for a different taste.
