- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
- Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, heavy cream, and instant coffee granules. Stir constantly until the mixture thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan, about 10-15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the baked crust, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle with sea salt.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
