Description
Green Onion Crackers are crispy, savory homemade crackers with a delightful burst of flavor from fresh green onions. These crackers are perfect for snacking, serving with dips, or enjoying with cheese. They’re easy to make and a great alternative to store-bought crackers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh green onions, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 2–3 tablespoons cold water (as needed)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a food processor, combine the flour, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Pulse to mix.
- Add the cold butter cubes and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- With the food processor running, drizzle in the vegetable oil until the dough starts to come together.
- Add the chopped green onions and Parmesan cheese (if using), and pulse until evenly distributed.
- Gradually add the cold water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough forms a ball. You may not need all the water.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to about 1/8-inch thickness.
- Cut the dough into squares or your desired shape using a knife or cookie cutter.
- Place the crackers onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crackers are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle the crackers with a little sea salt or garlic salt right after baking.
- If you don’t have a food processor, you can use a pastry cutter or fork to incorporate the butter into the flour mixture by hand.
- Feel free to experiment with other herbs like thyme, rosemary, or dill for a different flavor profile.
