Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp salt (optional, depending on Cajun seasoning)
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
- Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
- Metal or soaked wooden skewers
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F / 200°C). If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and salt if using. Mix until evenly coated.
- Thread shrimp onto skewers (4–5 per skewer), keeping them close but not overlapping.
- Grill shrimp skewers for 2–3 minutes per side or until shrimp are opaque and slightly charred.
- Remove from grill and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
- Serve hot with additional lemon wedges, over rice, salad, or in tacos.
Notes
- Adjust Cajun seasoning for spice preference — use mild or extra spicy blends.
- For added flavor, marinate shrimp for 15–30 minutes before grilling.
- Pairs well with corn on the cob, grilled vegetables, or a creamy dipping sauce like remoulade or garlic aioli.
- Can be cooked on a grill pan indoors if an outdoor grill isn’t available.
