Ingredients
Scale
For the Lobster Tails:
- 4 lobster tails (about 4–6 oz each)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)
For the Garlic Lemon Butter Sauce:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Lobster Tails:
- Using kitchen scissors or a sharp knife, carefully cut through the top of each lobster tail shell, down to the tail fin. Gently pull the shell apart, then lift the lobster meat slightly out of the shell, leaving the end attached. This is called “piggybacking” the lobster.
- Drizzle the lobster tails with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F or 200°C). Clean and oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
- Grill the Lobster Tails: Place the lobster tails shell-side down on the grill. Cook for about 5-6 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until the lobster meat is opaque and has reached an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).
- Make the Garlic Lemon Butter Sauce: While the lobster is grilling, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Remove from heat and stir in fresh parsley.
- Serve: Once the lobster tails are done, drizzle them generously with the garlic lemon butter sauce. Serve with lemon wedges on the side and enjoy!
Notes
- If you prefer, you can baste the lobster tails with the garlic butter sauce while they grill for extra flavor.
- To make the lobster tails even more flavorful, you can add a little bit of white wine or seafood seasoning to the butter sauce.
- If you don’t have a grill, you can broil the lobster tails in the oven instead.
