Description
This classic guacamole is a creamy, flavorful dip made with ripe avocados, fresh lime juice, and a blend of seasonings. It’s the perfect addition to any Mexican dish or just served with chips!
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
- 1 small red onion, finely diced
- 1–2 jalapeño peppers, seeds removed and finely chopped
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin (optional)
- 1/2 tsp salt, to taste
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mash the avocados with a fork or potato masher until you reach your desired consistency (smooth or chunky).
- Add the finely diced red onion, chopped jalapeños, diced tomato, and chopped cilantro to the mashed avocados.
- Stir in the lime juice, garlic powder, cumin (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning, adding more lime juice, salt, or pepper if necessary.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips, tacos, or as a topping for your favorite Mexican dishes.
Notes
- If you prefer a spicier guacamole, leave the seeds in the jalapeños or add more to taste.
- To keep your guacamole fresh, cover it with plastic wrap pressed directly against the surface to prevent browning, and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.
- For extra creaminess, you can add a tablespoon of sour cream or Greek yogurt to the guacamole.
