Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe avocados
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1–2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 small jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional, for spice)
Instructions
- Prep the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl. Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired consistency (chunky or smooth).
- Add the Ingredients: Add the chopped onion, minced garlic (if using), diced tomato, chopped cilantro, lime juice, salt, black pepper, and ground cumin (if using). For extra heat, stir in the minced jalapeño.
- Mix Well: Stir all the ingredients together until well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt, lime juice, or pepper as needed.
- Serve: Serve immediately with tortilla chips or use as a topping for tacos, nachos, or fajitas.
Notes
- To prevent the guacamole from browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface before storing it in an airtight container.
- Guacamole is best served fresh but can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 days.
