Description

This guacamole recipe features ripe avocados mixed with fresh ingredients like diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and a splash of lime juice. Perfectly seasoned and optionally spiced with jalapeño, it’s a versatile dip that’s ideal for serving with tortilla chips, tacos, or as a topping for a variety of dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 12 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional, for spice)

Instructions

  • Prep the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl. Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired consistency (chunky or smooth).
  • Add the Ingredients: Add the chopped onion, minced garlic (if using), diced tomato, chopped cilantro, lime juice, salt, black pepper, and ground cumin (if using). For extra heat, stir in the minced jalapeño.
  • Mix Well: Stir all the ingredients together until well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt, lime juice, or pepper as needed.
  • Serve: Serve immediately with tortilla chips or use as a topping for tacos, nachos, or fajitas.

Notes

  • To prevent the guacamole from browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface before storing it in an airtight container.
  • Guacamole is best served fresh but can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 days.
