Description

This Halloween Mac and Cheese is a fun and festive twist on the classic comfort food. Featuring a vibrant green “monster slime” sauce made from spinach and spooky eyeballs crafted from cheese and olives, it’s perfect for a Halloween dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of Mac and Cheese (plus ingredients needed to prepare it, such as butter and milk)
  • 4 cups fresh baby spinach
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 cheese stick
  • 4 black olives
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Mac and Cheese:
    • Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and mix in the cheese mixture, butter, and milk as directed.
  • Make the Monster Slime Sauce:
    • Place the spinach and 2 tablespoons of water in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 2 minutes until wilted.
    • Cool slightly, then blend with 1 tablespoon of water into a smooth, bright green puree.
  • Add the Monster Slime to Mac and Cheese:
    • Stir the spinach puree into the prepared mac and cheese until the sauce turns vibrant green. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Create the Spooky Eyeballs:
    • Slice the cheese stick into thick rounds. Punch a hole in the center of each round and place a black olive slice in the center.
  • Assemble the Halloween Mac and Cheese:
    • Serve the green mac and cheese on plates or in bowls, topped with the spooky eyeballs.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of spinach puree to achieve the desired green color.
  • For a more pronounced “monster” effect, you can add extra spooky garnishes like edible spiders or pumpkin-shaped croutons.
