Description

These Halloween Sugar Cookies are a festive treat, perfect for any Halloween gathering. Coated in bright orange and black sanding sugar, these cookies are not only delicious but also visually appealing, making them a fun addition to your holiday celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp almond extract
  • Orange and black sanding sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Beat until combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until combined.
  • Place orange sanding sugar and black sanding sugar into separate bowls. Scoop dough with a cookie scoop, form into balls, and roll each in the sanding sugar.
  • Arrange cookies 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until edges are slightly golden. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For more festive cookies, use Halloween-themed cookie cutters before baking.
  • If the dough is too soft, chill it for 30 minutes before scooping.
