Whether you’re preparing for a family gathering or just want something delicious for dessert, this recipe will become a crowd favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Angel Food Cake (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 box Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
  • 1 1/2 cups Milk (whole milk recommended for creaminess)
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 can Cherry Pie Filling
  • 8 oz Whipped Topping
  • Almond Slices (Optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Angel Food Cake: If making from scratch, follow the instructions carefully. If using a pre-made cake, ensure it’s fully cooled. Cut the cooled cake into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Prepare the Pudding Layer: Whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and milk in a bowl until thickened. Fold in sour cream until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Make the Cream Cheese Mixture: Beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth and creamy.
  4. Layer the Cake: In a large serving dish or trifle bowl, start layering:
    • First, layer half of the angel food cake cubes.
    • Then, spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the cake.
    • Next, add half of the pudding mixture.
    • Finally, spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the pudding.
  5. Repeat the Layers: Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, ending with the cherry pie filling on top.
  6. Chill and Set: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the layers to set.
  7. Top with Whipped Topping: Just before serving, spread whipped topping over the top and garnish with almond slices if desired.
  8. Serve & Enjoy: Slice and serve this delicious dessert!

Notes

  • Make sure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature to avoid lumps when mixing.
  • For a more decorative touch, you can sprinkle toasted almond slices on top for an added crunch.
