Description

Hocus Pocus Cookies are a fun and festive treat perfect for Halloween. These colorful cookies feature a blend of white chocolate chips and vibrant gel colors, making them a delightful addition to any Halloween celebration.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cookies:

  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups cake flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cornstarch
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Decoration:

  • Halloween sprinkles
  • Orange, green, and purple gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: Beat the softened butter and white sugar in a stand mixer on high speed until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Incorporate eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend in the vanilla extract until fully mixed.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cake flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on medium speed until just combined.
  6. Color the Dough: Divide dough into three portions. Color each portion with orange, green, and purple gel food coloring. Knead each until the color is evenly distributed.
  7. Form Cookies: Scoop about 2 teaspoons of each color dough, roll into balls, and press together without blending colors. Form into a ball and slightly flatten.
  8. Add Sprinkles and Chips: Roll edges of the dough balls in Halloween sprinkles. Place them on the baking sheet, pressing white chocolate chips into the top and sides.
  9. Chill Dough: Refrigerate cookies for 30 minutes to chill.
  10. Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  11. Bake Cookies: Arrange chilled dough balls on the parchment-lined sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 12-14 minutes, until edges are set. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Store: Once cooled, store in an airtight container to keep fresh.

Notes

  • For extra festive flair, use a variety of Halloween-themed sprinkles and edible glitter.
  • Ensure the dough is well-chilled to prevent spreading during baking.
