Description

Banana powder is a versatile and nutritious ingredient that can be used in smoothies, baking, or as a natural supplement. Made from dried bananas, this powder is packed with potassium, vitamins, and minerals. Perfect for adding a subtle sweetness and health boost to your dishes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 ripe bananas (or as many as you want to make)
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon lemon juice (to prevent browning)

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and slice them into thin rounds or chunks.
  2. If desired, lightly brush the banana slices with lemon juice to preserve their color.
  3. Arrange the banana slices on a dehydrator tray or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. If using a dehydrator: Set the dehydrator to 135°F (57°C) and dry the banana slices for 6-12 hours, checking occasionally until completely dry and crispy.
  5. If using an oven: Preheat the oven to its lowest setting (around 170°F or 77°C). Place the banana slices on a baking sheet and bake for 2-3 hours, flipping occasionally until dried and crisp.
  6. Once dried, allow the banana slices to cool completely.
  7. Use a spice grinder or blender to grind the dried banana slices into a fine powder.
  8. Store the banana powder in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness of the banana powder by using very ripe bananas.
  • This powder can also be added to pancake or waffle batter, smoothies, or even sprinkled over yogurt or oatmeal.
  • If you don’t have a dehydrator, an oven works just as well. Just make sure to keep the temperature low to avoid burning.
