- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
- Prepare the Baking Pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on each side to lift the caramel out later. Lightly grease with butter.
- Melt the Butter: Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat without browning.
- Combine Ingredients: Add brown sugar, corn syrup, sweetened condensed milk, and salt to melted butter. Stir until combined.
- Bring to a Boil: Increase heat and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce to medium-low, attach a candy thermometer, and cook, stirring, until it reaches 245°F (118°C).
- Add Vanilla: Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour and Set: Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, spread evenly, and let cool at room temperature for at least 2 hours.
- Cut the Caramels: Once set, lift parchment paper out of the pan and cut into squares.
- Optional Sea Salt Topping: Sprinkle with sea salt before the caramels are fully set for enhanced flavor.
