Description
Tangy and slightly salty dill pickle flavored gummy worms that make a unique snack or party treat. These homemade gummy worms combine the refreshing crunch of pickles with a chewy, gelatinous texture for a surprising twist.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup dill pickle juice (strained, no solids)
- 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin powder
- 1 tbsp honey or agave syrup (optional, for slight sweetness)
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional for extra pickle flavor)
- Food coloring (green, optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, pour the dill pickle juice and sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the surface. Let it bloom for 5 minutes.
- Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly until the gelatin dissolves completely (do not boil).
- Remove from heat and stir in honey, apple cider vinegar, and garlic powder if using.
- If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring and mix well.
- Pour the mixture into gummy worm molds or a shallow pan to cut into strips later.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until firm.
- Carefully remove gummy worms from molds or cut into worm-shaped strips.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
Notes
- Use high-quality dill pickle juice for best flavor.
- Adjust sweetness to your taste or omit for a more savory gummy.
- Gelatin alternatives like agar-agar will not yield the same chewy texture.
- Perfect as a novelty snack or quirky gift!
