Description

Homemade Easy Cheesy Pizza Pockets are a fun and delicious way to enjoy pizza in a handheld, crispy form. These cheesy, savory pockets are filled with pizza sauce, gooey melted cheese, and your favorite pizza toppings, all wrapped in soft dough. Perfect for lunch, dinner, or a quick snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or your favorite pizza toppings)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Olive oil (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into 8 equal rectangles (or adjust based on your desired size).
  3. In the center of each rectangle, spread about a tablespoon of pizza sauce. Top with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese and your choice of toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, etc.).
  4. Fold the dough over the filling to create a pocket, sealing the edges by pressing them together with your fingers or a fork.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk the egg and brush it over the top of each pizza pocket to give them a golden finish when baked.
  6. Place the stuffed pizza pockets on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with a little olive oil for extra crispiness.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling inside.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can customize the fillings by adding different pizza toppings like sausage, olives, or even a bit of fresh basil.
  • For a healthier version, use whole wheat pizza dough or add some veggies to the filling.
  • These pizza pockets can be frozen for later. Just bake them as directed, let them cool, and freeze in a single layer. Reheat in the oven when ready to enjoy.
