  • Yield: Makes approximately 2 cups of powder (enough for about 16 servings of chocolate milk, depending on your preferred sweetness) 1x

Description

This Homemade Nesquik is a healthier and customizable version of the classic chocolate milk powder. Made with simple ingredients like cocoa powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt, this mix is perfect for making your own chocolate milk at home. You can adjust the sweetness to your preference and enjoy it in milk, smoothies, or even baked goods!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (adjust for sweetness)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (optional, depending on how sweet you want it)
  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional, for added flavor)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the unsweetened cocoa powder, powdered sugar, granulated sugar (if using), and salt until well combined.
  2. Optional Vanilla Flavor:

    • If you like a bit of extra flavor, stir in the vanilla extract at this stage. This step is optional but adds a nice depth to the flavor.
  3. Store the Powder:

    • Transfer the cocoa mixture to an airtight container, such as a jar or a resealable bag. Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
  4. Make Chocolate Milk:

    • To make a glass of chocolate milk, add about 2 tablespoons of the Homemade Nesquik powder to 1 cup of milk (adjust to taste).
    • Stir well until fully dissolved, and enjoy your homemade chocolate milk!
  5. Other Uses:

    • This Homemade Nesquik can also be used in baking recipes that call for cocoa powder, like brownies, cakes, or cookies.

Notes

  • Sweetness Adjustment: Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar based on your personal preference. You can even use a sugar substitute if desired.
  • Non-Dairy Option: You can easily make this recipe vegan by using a non-dairy milk (like almond or oat milk) when preparing your chocolate milk.

  • Flavor Variation: You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or a little bit of instant coffee granules for a unique twist on the classic flavor.
