Description
Deliciously creamy and refreshing, these homemade peppermint patties require just 5 ingredients! Perfect for a sweet treat or festive gift.
Ingredients
Scale
- ¾ cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 ¼ teaspoons peppermint extract
- ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups powdered sugar plus extra for sprinkling
- 2 cups dark melting/dipping chocolate
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Place condensed milk, peppermint extract, and vanilla extract in the bowl of a stand mixer.
- Add half of the powdered sugar while the mixer is on low. Continue adding the remainder of the powdered sugar bit by bit until a dough forms.
- Sprinkle about 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar on a piece of parchment paper. Knead the dough a couple of times to ensure everything is well combined.
- Roll the dough into a ½” thick circle, keeping powdered sugar on top to prevent sticking.
- Cut 1 to 1 ½” circles with a cookie cutter or the top of a small glass. If the dough is too warm, place it in the freezer for 15 minutes and try again.
- Move the peppermint patties to a parchment-lined baking sheet and place them in the freezer for 15 minutes.
- Melt chocolate in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring each time to prevent burning. Let it sit for 3-4 minutes to cool slightly.
- Using a fork, dip peppermint patties into the chocolate, flipping to coat the other side. Place the chocolate-coated patties back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Top with sprinkles if desired. Place in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to firm up before eating.
Notes
- Ensure the dough is not too warm before cutting for best results.
- Adjust the thickness of the dough based on personal preference for the patties.
