Description

This homemade pineapple cough syrup is a natural remedy made with fresh pineapple and soothing ingredients to help ease your throat and cough. It’s simple to make and packed with vitamins and antioxidants to support your health!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 fresh pineapple, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup honey (or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric (optional)
  • 12 cups water (depending on desired consistency)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pineapple: In a blender, combine the chopped pineapple and water. Blend until smooth.
  2. Add the ingredients: Pour the pineapple mixture into a pot or saucepan. Add honey, grated ginger, lemon juice, and turmeric (if using).
  3. Simmer the syrup: Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Bring it to a gentle simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the syrup to thicken.
  4. Strain (optional): For a smoother syrup, strain out the pulp using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
  5. Cool and store: Allow the syrup to cool before transferring it to a glass jar or bottle. Store it in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  6. Serve: Take a spoonful of the syrup as needed for soothing relief, or mix it into warm water or tea.

Notes

  • If you prefer a sweeter syrup, feel free to add more honey to taste.
  • This syrup can be served straight, in hot tea, or added to warm water.
  • For additional throat-soothing properties, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or cinnamon to the mix.
