Description

These Homemade Salmon Fish Fingers are a healthier and delicious alternative to the classic fish fingers. Made with fresh salmon fillets, breadcrumbs, and herbs, they offer a crispy exterior and a tender, flaky interior. Perfect for a family-friendly meal or as a snack for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets (about 300g), skinless and boneless
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup flour (for dredging)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil or vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking, or heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat if frying.
  2. Cut the salmon fillets into finger-sized pieces (about 2-3 inches each).
  3. In a shallow bowl, place the flour. In another shallow bowl, beat the eggs. In a third shallow bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Coat each piece of salmon in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, then roll in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.
  5. If baking: Place the coated fish fingers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle with a little olive oil and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
  6. If frying: Heat about 2 tablespoons of oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Fry the fish fingers for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve the salmon fish fingers hot with a side of tartar sauce, lemon wedges, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • If you prefer a lighter version, you can bake the fish fingers instead of frying them for a healthier option.
  • Feel free to substitute the parsley with other fresh herbs, like dill or thyme, for different flavor profiles.
  • For an extra crispy texture, try adding some crushed cornflakes or panko breadcrumbs mixed with a little grated cheese to the coating.
