Description

These Honey Butter Garlic Chicken Tenders are crispy, juicy, and coated in a sweet, savory sauce that will have everyone coming back for more. Perfect for a quick dinner or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ lbs chicken tenders (or chicken breasts cut into strips)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk)

  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

  • For the Honey Butter Sauce:

    • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
    • 2 tbsp honey
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tsp soy sauce (optional)
    • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • In another shallow bowl, pour the buttermilk.
    • In a third shallow bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
  2. Coat the Chicken:

    • Dip each chicken tender into the flour mixture, coating it evenly.
    • Next, dip the coated chicken into the buttermilk, and then coat it in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  3. Cook the Chicken:

    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Once the oil is hot, add the chicken tenders in batches, cooking for about 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
    • Transfer the cooked chicken tenders to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  4. Make the Honey Butter Garlic Sauce:

    • In a separate small pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
    • Stir in the honey, soy sauce (if using), and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
    • Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Coat the Chicken in the Sauce:

    • Once all the chicken tenders are cooked, drizzle the honey butter garlic sauce over the tenders, or toss the tenders in the sauce to coat evenly.
  6. Serve:

    • Serve the chicken tenders immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or side dishes. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double-coat the chicken tenders by repeating the flour, buttermilk, and breadcrumb steps.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
  • You can also bake these tenders at 400°F (200°C) for about 20 minutes if you want a healthier alternative to frying.
